The NOVAprep® unique vials and preservative media are designed to optimize the cellular material required for cytology and molecular tests. The unique preservative solution maintains the cellular integrity of the sample by keeping the cellular suspension, and notably the red blood cells, intact. The sample is in the same state when analyzed as it was when it was collected. The cap is unique as it will automatically reseal itself following puncture.&nbsp; The sample therefore remains isolated from external micro-particles (viruses, bacteria, spores, etc.).

The NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange Vials are leak-proof containers intended for human sample fixation and transportation. The NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange Vials can be used for preservation of gynecological (Gyn) and non-gynecological (Non-Gyn) samples.

NOVAPREP HQ + Orange Vial

NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange Vials for Gyn samples

In gynecology, NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange Vial is mainly used for cervical screening (smear test). The NOVAprep® HQ+ Orange Vial can be identified by its orange cap which holds cervical samples and utilizes the integrated cell extraction system to enhance the number of cells collected from the cervix. The unique design includes a collection mesh with a rough surface to remove the cells from the brush.&nbsp; To further enhance the release of cells from the brush, there is a feature in the vial that facilitates the removal of the head of the sampling brush which minimizes the loss of the sample.

Preparation and collection of gynecological samples

  • Insert the central bristles of the brush into the endocervical canal to place the lateral bristles in contact with the junction (transformation zone) and the ectocervix.
  • Maintain gentle pressure on the cervix.
  • Rotate the brush 2 times in a clockwise direction.

  • Hold the base of the vial firmly.
  • Scrub the head of the brush against the nylon collection mesh a minimum of 3 times round to increase the release of cells into the fluid.

  • Detach the handle from the brush with the stop by pulling upward and holding firmly the base of the vial.
  • Discard the handle in an appropriate biohazard receptacle.

  • Shake vigorously 3 times.
  • Label the vial and the test request sheet order form with the relevant patient information and place all items (vial and test request sheet) in the sample pouch for transport to the laboratory.
  • Insert the brush into the endocervical canal until only the lowest bristles are exposed.
  • Rotate slowly five turns in a clockwise direction.
